Osbert International, Inc. is a firm based in San Francisco which specializes in representing U.S. and European manufacturers of petrochemical QC equipment, laboratory instruments and non-destructive examination technologies and pipelines inspection since 1987.

The modernization of China demands that all industries are up to date - replacing and/or purchasing new equipment. Seeing the opportunity that is unfolding in China, with the great experience and success we achieved in exporting petrochemical and NDT equipment to Taiwan, We entered the China market in 1994 and established a branch office in Beijing in 1997.

For the period of nine years in the Chinese market, Osbert International, Inc. has successfully established a strong customer base and distribution network (more than three thousands). Besides our professional sales team that promote products, we also participate in all major trade shows. In 1995, we exhibited at two trade shows - Interpec China '95 and the China International Measurement Instrumentation Conference and Exhibition 1995. In 1997, we exhibited at Interpec '97 and World Petroleum Congress '97.

Our marketing strategy is as follows:

Trade Shows: Continued participation in major trade shows and seminars. In May 1999 we were participating in Interpec China'99 in Beijing where we exhibited various US and European instruments and technologies. From 1999 to 2002 we participated in all China International Material & NDT Conferences and Exhibitions, and Sinopec Purchasing Conferences.
Seminars: We conduct comprehensive seminars for potential customers every year. At PetroChina '95, we had 78 attendees from 45 refineries and research institutes; in 1996, NIR on octane number attracted 120 participants; a pipeline pigging seminar in 1997 had 40 attendees from 22 pipeline operation companies. On line NIR instrumentation 1998 had 200 attendees from 35 refineries. All of our seminars generate significant sales. As a sample, in the year 2000 our NDT on site seminar had more than 50 attendees from all over China and closed two sales of USD150,000 right away.

Materials: We translate all catalogs, brochures, technical papers, presentations, etc. into Chinese, making it easier for our buyers to understand the products we represent.

Contacts: We have connections with, and focus much of our promotion efforts on, the major refineries, chemical plants, power plants, government agencies , research institutes as well as universities.

Advertising: Although we feel that word-of-mouth and personal contacts are the best methods for promoting new products, we also advertise in China's major petrochemical, NDT and Instrumentation journals/magazines. In addition, we publish and circulate our own newsletters.

Internet: The information highway is becoming more important information exchange and business. We set up our Chinese web site in 1999. All our products and services are published on our site at www.osbert.com.cn and instrument portal site at www.123lab.net. Since the unfolding of our sites, we have had more than thirty thousand visits and inquiries.

Support: Our Beijing and Taipei offices are professionally staffed with six factory trained engineers and three technicians who have had 14 years of experience with laboratory and on-line instrumentation. These experts support our projects in both China and Taiwan.

In summation, the People's Republic of China is a tremendous market opportunity. China is the fastest growing market in the world, but it is complicated and different from western markets. We are confident that with our knowledge, experience and connections, we can create a strong market and generate steady sales for your products.
